The Canucks have really got to stop spotting their opposition goals.
A three goal lead at the end of the first? That's what the Canucks, and ahem, Luongo, gave the Avalanche. Luongo let in two goals from Duchene and one from Christ Stewart. By the end of the first I began to think that tonight would be like Friday night against the Blackhawks. But for the 10th time this year, the Canucks have come back to win the game after going into the 3rd period trailing. But really guys, we need to stop this need to come back in the 3rd period.
Recap after the jump...
In the second period the Canuck began the comeback with a goal from Samuelsson. 36 seconds later after a brutal giveaway from Mason Raymond, Colorado quickly answers back with a goal from Peter Mueller. But Samuelsson wasn't done yet, scoring two more goals in the second period to give him his first career hat trick. He becomes the fifth Canuck to have a hat-trick this season. Interesting to note, the last time the Canucks were in Denver Henrik Sedin got a hat-trick as well.
So the Canucks start the third period down 4-3, but the difference in the third was Roberto Luongo. Luongo shut the door and made a big save on Cumiskey. Burrows got his 30th goal of the season off of a deflection of Edler's shot on the PP and for the second game in a row, Jannik Hansen comes up with the game winning goal. Oh and to pad the fantasy hockey pools, Daniel gets and empty net goal from Samuelsson and Kesler.
Wow. Did anyone think that the Canucks could come back after being down 3-0? or when the Avalanche came back with their quick goal in the second to regain their 3 goal lead at 4-1?
